Combining the forces of Matty Photography and P-51 Pictures to create Project Showcase was the result of photographer Matt McDaniel and film director Andrew Lahmann‘s decision to respond to Vision: Toledo’s call for student support in the community. Both THS Class of 2000 graduates, Lahmann and McDaniel had every opportunity to develop a considerable appreciation for a small town community such as Toledo.

Son of former THS Varsity Basketball Coach Greg McDaniel, Matt went on from Toledo to attend Central Washington University, and has established himself as an extremely high-end photographer with an exceptional caliber of quality and class. Matty Photography is quickly ranking among the highest reviewed photography services in Washington State, delivering dynamite portfolios to multi-million dollar corporations and personal clients alike. Matt has also been tapped as the official photographer for the Ryan Stiles Celebrity Golf Classic in Bellingham.

Son of former Toledo Superintendent Tom Lahmann, Andrew attended Western Washington University to pursue a career in film. After being accepted into the ACR Film Festival in Atlanta and winning the People’s Choice Award for his co-production of the documentary An Honorable Calling, Lahmann partnered with his co-director to create P-51 Pictures, a feature film production company in Bellingham, WA. Upon returning from California where he worked and shadowed on Marvel Studio’s film Iron Man, Andrew and his team have been completing post-production on the feature adventure film, The Dream Garden, which he wrote and directed.

Achieving even this caliber of success at such a young age is something both believe can be attributed to the remarkable amount of support and encouragement they were given from the town of Toledo, its citizens, and their families. Entering into careers of taking pictures and shooting movies for a living is an honor McDaniel and Lahmann feel fortunate to have. Hard work and dedication has led to extremely positive results for both former students, and both see it as a tremendous privilege to return to THS to offer their services and expertise back to the student body & faculty, providing the types of opportunities to the youth that pave the way for future excellence in all walks of life.

Matt and Andrew will be documenting this whole process with various members of their production teams by capturing photography and film along the way, and providing avenues for the Toledo student teams to showcase each of their projects to the public through online social media networks and, of course, here at the official site. The students will be able to share their ideas, plans and progress with the rest of the school, the entire community, and the online viewing public following their stories.

Toledo is an extraordinary place. Sometimes it takes stepping away to make this simple fact clear as day. Both McDaniel and Lahmann are aware of this, and will proudly offer their help to this town in any way they can… anytime.
